Meet the Academy Committee Members

Catherine Allison: Chair - Co-opted Academy Committee Member

I've been in education for the last 40 years as a teacher and a head of department of English in a comprehensive and a grammar school.  I currently work for an examination board in GCSE and A level and am a consultant for my last school and a range of different educational companies.

I was the Chair of Governors of Shawley that led our journey into LEO and am proud to be the Chair of the Academic Committee witnessing the amazing journey of our wonderful school into even greater success.  I live locally and am so proud of the lovely children that I meet when I visit.

Reece Turner: Co-opted Academy Committee Member

I’m a local resident with a background in recruitment and strategic business development within the education sector. I work as Business Director for a leading Public Sector recruitment company, with my specialism being within the Education sector. My experience includes over a decade of expertise in commercial leadership, relationship management, and talent acquisition.

Through my role as an Academy Committee Member at Shawley, I am committed to leveraging my experience to positively impact school outcomes and student experiences. As Inclusion Lead on the Committee I aim to have a focus on ensuring a welcoming, supportive environment for every child.

Outside of work, I spend my time as an assistant manager for a semi-pro football team, and when I’m not coaching, you'll often find me walking my dog around Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Joanne Cheesemore: Academy Committee Member

My name is Jo and I live with my husband and 2 daughters who are in Year 1 and Year 2 at Shawley. I work full time as a Business Analyst in IT, as well as being a member of the company DE&I steering group which I enjoy. I love to spend my weekends with family and friends.

I am proud to have this opportunity to help support the school in ensuring that it continues to provide a great environment for children to learn and provide an excellent education to all of the children.
